I also had a bit of trouble when I went to baton wood with it. While the back of the knife held up fine, the back edge of the bowie point kinda chopped my batoning stick to pieces.
More importantly, the hilt (handguard?) came a little loose. Some people have also had issue with the fact that it's not full tang. It's also a pain to carry anywhere, because you look like Rambo.
TLDR-- you could do a lot worse, but for the money, I'd look at the Boker Bk2 or even a small skinning knife for most innawoods.
