>>368414That's if you allow it to change you. Most officers/rangers I know have some wiggle room in the decisions they make in enforcement. Even when there's not much, you can still choose handle the situation like a human being and be as civil as possible. If you refuse to change due to ethical conflicts, quit or transfer to a different position. If you take a position of authority and wind up being an asshole it still comes down to the choices you made, not the position itself.
Not to hardline or be discouraging. I'm just saying don't take or refuse a job with the mentality or fear that it will change who you are because you alone determine that.
On a related note, though, that's one reason to look at all aspects of a job. If you know there's something you'd be expected to do that conflicts with your ethics, you should probably look at something else.
