You don't need a boat, and if you choose to use the boat a kayak will work fine.

You do need to be wary of contamination from chemicals and shit in the waters due to shitty companies just dumping. Pic related.

General consensus is that the deer are overpopulated due to lack of predation (bear, cats, wolves, and coyotes) and environmental fragmentation (highways, for example) that keep herds from migrating from high density areas to lower density areas. As a result crop damage and auto damage are significant economic factors.

Hadn't considered the environmental fragmentation, but it makes a lot of sense. However there may be some improvement in the future. There's a buck I see frequently that looks both ways before crossing the street, and it may catch on with the others.

If you go up Mansfield, be prepared to die. Horribly. Monadnock is for girls, and its actually a great date mountain, gap if shes a fat chick. Mt Washington will change your life and also piss you off when you see the visitors center. I really liked Mt Tecumseh but it was a really weird mountain. The Glen Boulder trail up mount washington is really hard but fairly rewarding but i havent made it through that way yet, just did tucks ravene once.

I live in NY now and its all gullys and the people are weak but its fun to climb up their stupid waterfalls and make them think youre some type of woodsman and not just some drunk guy from the north east.

I am from northern Maine originally but it's dying there. Live in any of the bedroom communities of Portland and you will have plenty of access to both work and outdoor recreation. Or if you just want the outdoors go to northern Maine and just make it work, where there is a way.

The only notable mountains I've hiked in NH have been Monadnock, Jackson and Willey.

Monadnock was the easiest and had quite a few others on it. The top is completely bare minus a few stunted pines and shrubs here and there. Decent views. Expect probably 10-15 people to be on the summit on a nice day.

Willey is a nice hike overlooking Crawford Notch. Absolutely amazing views. Pic related. No one else was up there on the day I hiked it. Pretty easy hike.

Jackson was probably the most difficult out of the three, but I wasn't in that great of shape when I hiked it, so that may have amplified the difficulty. It just kind of goes on an on at a gradient slightly steeper than Monadnock on a rocky path through woods until you kind of just pop out at the top. There are tiny, stunted trees all around and trees just before the summit and over the other side, which develops into a marshy area. Jackson definitely felt the most like an accomplishment.

I'd like to get up there within the next little while and climb Washington and a few of the other presidentials as well as maybe Isolation because of the great views of the surrounding area. I'd also like to hike up Katahdin while I'm up there. I'm from Mass so it wouldn't be too far of a drive.

btw mt isolation is spectacular! i've been up to glen boulder a couple times and although it doesn't have the elevation and microclimate as washington/adams the views really are beautiful - and even on a weekend sometimes you won't see a single other person for the whole hike.

took a little over 5:30 round trip, with a good amount of chillin at the top since the weather was decent.

God-tier hiking this year; just pretty dry, but not so dry that the trails degraded. Just went on a quick 3 hour hike today; everythings in good condition, and we're hoping for a pretty good Fall. I'd really like to take a Friday off and try and do a three day-er on the Long Trail; just use some disposable tents, a few cheap ground rolls. I'd like to do the more central parts, but I'm probably only going to be able to get rides to Stowe-ish.

Gorham is a nice area. Windham too, and they're both close to Sebago lake. I work as a firefighter for both towns, and I really enjoy the area. They're both somewhat rural, but also close enough to cities like portland and westbrook so that jobs are fairly available.

LOL, I would never do that. I have no way to pay you back. I used to be a mechanic so I have a full set of tools. If you had a way to transport it here I wouldn't mind at all. Makes it easier for me since I know where and why I have for tools. I'm OCD so I NEVER lose things. Nothing I hate more than a messy box.

This, I live in bucks county. Ringing rocks is worth checking out and high rocks state park is a nice hike. There are no good camping spots that I know of though
