What's the best multitool under 50$? Just for around the house chores (good Phillips n flathead ends, pliers n knife) . I know this has been asked but I need to order one today. Plz halp!

Can't beat a leatherman.
They're a little more expensive, but they're worth every penny. Have had one for about 10 years now, never had any trouble with it. Once I broke the blade (I was young and stupid) and they immediately fixed it and sent it back to me within two weeks for free, no questions asked

I was going over the same topic not long ago! I chose Leatherman Sidekick above Wingman.

Everyone keeps saying Gerber is inferior - not sure if that's really the case.
But I like Leatherman better, after seeing a bunch of options first hand and browsing, youtube, general websites.

People go on and on about steel type used for knives in multitools, or types of plies. For me all is good in this matter and I am very please with Sidekick @32USD from Ebay (some photo store in NYC was selling it new).

Gerber isn't just inferior, they won't even tell you what alloy their blades are made from.

At least with Leatherman, you know when you're getting 420HC or 154CM or whatever.

just got a brand new wave replacement for my worn out old one. blade play, snapped tools (my fault entirely) and a knife lock getting weak, and they just took it and sent a new one back in like 3 days.

and I abuse the shit out of it every day in work.

I supervise for a property service company, servicing million $ plus homes and mansions with everything from exterior cleaning to minor/moderate renovations.

In my spare time I move from house to house renovating and reselling these same homes for a cut from my financier.

I've worked property maintenance in the UK for the last thirteen years, from medieval buildings to newbuild highrises, country clubs to council houses and I had to google what a bloody robertson head screw looked like.

Heh, according to google, the UK rights were bought by someone back in the day solely so they could bury the design and protect phillips. The robertson people paid through the nose to get the design back and refuses to offer it over here any more.

I'm a gas fitter by trade and those things are a fucking nightmare.
I see them a lot on new boiler housings and they're OK so long as you have the driver to fit them, most peope don't and they just jam a philips head in there and force them or round the head out trying to use a driver or an allen key that's too small to fit the screw. Half the time I end up struggling and having to remove the stupid things with pliers because whoever was there before me didn't have the right kit.
More bloody effort than they're worth.

i was once threated as a kid by a guy with a leatherman who said he would shove it so far up my ass and twist it and break of the blade inside me and then send it in for the warranty and in two weeks hed come back and do it again.

You are absolutely right. Flat was designed in middle ages and Philips was designed before modern precision torque tools. Only good thing about Pozidriv is the fact that in emergency you can use Philips driver. Good thing is those obsolete designs will fade away in a decade. Bad thing is we still have to deal with them til the day we die.
