Seriously, fuck people out.>be me >college student >not much money for food >not starving by any means, but still watching what I spend on food because its easy run out >attending school in a small town literally 10 minuets away from lake Michigan >"I know, I will just buy a fishing license, and catch some of my own food" >buy license >roommate who is native to the area warns me about eating lake michigan fish >do my research, find out thats a no go >find out that the town I am staying in had a chemical company just dump lots of shit on the floor so a bunch of smaller lakes are fucked >no where to fish for food What the fuck, why can't people just take care of shit. We can't eat fish out of the biggest fucking fresh water lakes in the world because some assholes decided dump their waste in it. Anyone in LaPorte county know where the fuck I can fish at that isn't fucked? I am thankful I can fish to kill the down time, but I would like to eat something I catch without poisoning myself.>pic unrelated

Also, does anyone else wonder what it was like to find such a place as a great lake in the middle of the wilderness, untouched by human corruption? I would love to be the first to set eyes on something like that, but sadly that can not happen anymore.

Sorry OP, but if I understand it correctly, PCB's are in everything because they travel in the rain. You can't fish anywhere.

You think that's bad, try being in Illinois. Only time I've ever kept fish is from private ponds when we camped out in the field too lazy/drunk to drive back to town for real food. And I still see fuckers with buckets everywhere here though. By August everything is fished out and you're not catching anything. Worst time to ever take up fly fishing.

Are any of the Great lakes not horribly polluted? I know lake Huron has good ol' chemical valley. I see people fishing in lake St. Clair (not a Great lake but kinda in between Huron and Erie) but it's pretty nasty too.

It also depends a lot on whether or not some shitty government comes into power and eases up environmental protections so companies can set things back a few decades.
