Where are you from? What's the /out/doors like there?
I'm from Vermont which is basically just one massive forest that's connected throughout the entire state. If you're not innawoods, you're never very far from it. Overall Vermont extremely rural, mostly winding dirt roads allover, no big towns or cities (unless you count Burlington, which, to the rest of the state, barely counts).
Hiking around here is great, just did Wantastiquet yesterday, which is a real easy climb but still has some nice trails.
Good environment too, everyone around here is a hippy so the woods are all well-maintained and lots of people are down to hike at the drop of a hat so I rarely go at it alone.
