Little town in 707, just west of Sac. Not too much to see locally but only a short drive from some nice things. Boating especially, good river access east in Sac and south in Rio Vista. Got to drive a little bit to get to the mountains, though.

There's actually a large network of trails down in the hills by old Almaden. Friends and I would do lots of crazy night hikes there, and there's amazing views of the city lit up at night. Just watch out for fucking mountain lions.

I can't for the life of me remember what it's called, but it shouldn't be hard to find on a map. South of Los Gatos

You don't have to tell me. I lived on a boat off the Embarcadero for over a year, and tourist season was horrible. But the best weather is in the off season, so you can enjoy it in peace.

Hofbrau, Taco de Mexico, and the Taffy Store were pretty much the only place I'd get food from when I was living on the boat. Shit was delicious.

760 North County here. Also hiked Whitney 2 years ago and damn that was the hardest hike I've ever been on. Did it as a 2 day thing. First day went to 11,000 second day hiked to top and back down. So glad I hiked that but damn super hard. You have to be determined

It's a mixed bag. It's nice and quiet, but there isn't much to do in terms of places to go. So unless you can entertain yourself, Sac is the nearest area to go to.

Nice where this at? From 760 but it's such a huge area code? I'd guess Ocotillo/Anza Borrego but those are only real deserts i've been to around 760. Looking for more areas to hike/backpack that aren't too hot.

Damn yeah nowhere near me. I'm in North County area (Escondido, San Marcos, Oceanside). 760 is too damn big. Lots of areas around me for hiking/mountain biking but nothing to amazing for backpacking. One super sweet spot but not entirely legal...still fun though just no fires.

If you haven't done Palm Canyon in Anza Borrego i'd recommend it. Nice hike with creek usually depending on time. Hell Hole canyon is right next to it but Palm usually has better water flow. If your quiet and lucky you will see some big horn sheep.

Did iron mountain recently in Poway recently and that was a great hike. Pretty busy with other people since weekend but still a great hike. Maybe 5/6 miles round trip. Other than check out Daily Ranch in Escondido, lots of hikes through there. Hmmm otherwise my favorite hikes are also Double Peak in San Marcos, Los Posas area in San Marcos, North Twin Oaks San Marocs (can explain area location more if you want), or Potato Chip rock in Poway.

Not the guy you were talking to, but I'm 925 as well, and if you're out east like me (Antioch, Pittsburg, Brentwood, Oakley) there's always the slaughterhouse off of empire mine road. It's a nice night walk (gotta go at night cuz the road was closed off a while ago), and you get to see some other cool stuff out there too.

There is also Byron Hotel, but I heard its getting torn down soon.

Tried Bear Canyon trail (aka Old Mt. Baldy Trail) yet? 6000 foot climb in 6 miles. Steep as hell. Fairly unpopulated too.
