>>381250>>381255Confession time:
Just this past Labor Day weekend I went out camping/backpacking on a trail. I had a brand new knife that just came in the mail, so it was super sharp out of the box. As I was setting up my camp, I made the stupidest decision and broke the oldest rule of knife safety (don't cut toward yourself). I had been wearing a light pair of gloves gathering wood and stuff, but guess what I wasn't wearing while I was trying to take some pine boughs off a tree with my knife?
I know exactly what you're talking about when you say it surprisingly didn't hurt that much. I just noticed that my blade bounced into my other hand, left index finger on the knuckle. It started bleeding like nobody's business.
So I'm sitting there with a half-assed camp not set up yet, it's getting dark, and I'm trying to use my shitty first aid kit to patch my finger up. I thought about the smell of my blood on the ground attracting a bear. That was the moment I decided to pack up, douse the fire, and hike an hour back to my truck to sleep there.
Moral of the story, don't be a dumbass and follow the rules. And wear gloves.
