Eagle Scout here. Really only enjoyed Boy Scouts because my troop was extremely into camping. Went on 3 different week long canoe trips, over 15 different backpacking trips, and hiked Mt. Whitney because of Boy Scouts.

Yeah badges and what not were waste of time but had great camping nonetheless.

Lel, if I had wanted to tell him to fuck off, I would've. I didn't say boy scout threads should never be posted, because they are /out/ related after all, but keep it to one to two active ones. The other day there were like six all being posted in.

Probably a useful org, since they get kids outside. I assume. I was a cub scout, but besides participating in (AND FUCKING DOMINATING) the pinewood derbys, I did nothing.

They probably aren't any more molesty of an org than any other, but the whole anti-gay thing is bit of a negative, though it probably isn't a huge deal in individual troops.

I was a Boy Scout. I had a lot of fun with it.

But I also got picked on a lot. I was the boy who hid in his tent and ate pop rocks instead of going to flag ceremony.

But it got me out in nature. I never would've learned to sail if I weren't a scout.

My troop was awful. The scoutmasters were good guys, but all of their sons were in the troop and they were absolute troublemakers. They'd tease other scouts, and one of them even set a fellow troop ablaze while he was sleeping.

I didn't like scouting in general, but I did go on an amazing canoe trip in Canada. The scenery and the fishing were just incredible.

It all depends on your troop. Some troops are really active and do 2 trips a month and a high adventure trip every so often, some just have regular weekly meetings and do jack shit. I love the BSA and I still help out with my troop, I think it's a great way to teach kids the patrol method, how to be reliant and solve problems on their own.

Our Eagle Scout projects are no joke either, I put about 1000 hours into my project, which was a boat dock and launch at a local park.
