dude. these straps are not the same like the straps on OP's pack.

Straps on outdoor packs are meant for tools. Only the military use special straps for pouches: the so called molle-system.

It is literally my backpacking gear with the addition of guns and ammo. I just cannot understand why people think that BoBs have to be purpose built when in reality if you already backpack making a BoB is just a process of putting things into your backpack with the addition of a little more metal and explosives.

That being said, the term probably originates from the old military use of "bug out," which meant moving very quickly. There's an episode of MASH where the field hospital has to bug out ten miles down the road, for example. It doesn't refer to freaking out.

Look, there's nothing wrong with being prepared for shit, but you have to admit that the entire prepper culture is fucking nuts. The apocalypse isn't going to happen, and even if it does, having a bunch of shit stuffed into a tacticool backpack isn't going to help you very much.
