Chain O' Lakes is one of the coolest parks. they have about a dozen lakes that you can camp around, fish and canoe. All the lakes are very natural and connected by little passage ways, perfect to explore in a Kayak. They don't allow motorized boats which is a huge plus.
My favorite parks are Turkey Run, Shades, Pokagan, Brown County, Indiana Dunes and Clifty Falls. Which you might already no about being a hoosier.
In Michigan: Sleeping Bear Dunes, Sleepy Hallow are cool state parks
As far as national parks in Michigan:"The Huron-Manistee National Forests are the only National Forests in Lower Michigan.
The Huron-Manistee National Forests comprise almost a million acres of public lands extending across the northern lower peninsula of Michigan. The Huron-Manistee National Forests provide recreation opportunities for visitors, habitat for fish and wildlife, and resources for local industry." HUGE
so is the Hiawatha National Forest in the UP
