Post your stories, resources to find them, etc etc.

Has anyone here had luck finding a good IC? I've tried IC.org without much luck. The ones near me never reply to emails and don't leave any other contact info, and the ones that do reply are thousands of miles away across the country.

I'm trying to start one where I live, we have a small lot of private land with a low rent.

i lived in an ic for few months, and my partner lived there for 3 years. You get the same bullshit you get living in close quarters with anyone, but the people at least share your interests and such

also i made /poverty/ on 4+4 chan...advertizing because hey i can and we talk about some /out/ stuff

Hey guys some unsolicited advice from a 34 year old.

Forget intentional communities, they attract the exact opposite kind of people you'd expect. Instead find a real community that shares your values.

I moved to Tasmania (Rural island below Australia) and lived in a small bush shack near a village with lots of permaculture/eco friendly people mixed in with normal people. I lived an awesome life there, had my own space, could build what I wanted to build and live how I wanted to live on my 60 acres. It was just a short drive away from friends, spent many a day helping mates build strawbale walls and outdoor pizza ovens. I never got into an arguement with a mate about how he should live his life because it didn't affect me.

I also owned my own property and my own labour improved it's value. I worked on a farm and made real money (and real work experience). Now I'm starting a family can can afford my own home and all the costs involved on my terms. If I was stuck in some commune I'd be up shit creek.

Seriously consider finding an actual community, not a make believe one.

I like looking at property up in the Midwest because it's cheap as fuck.

I found an 8,000 acre plot and an 8,500 acre plot in Montana for 6.9m each. Probably right next to each other.

Could you guys image owning 16,000 acres?

Mainly it was people who seemed to have tried to runaway from their problem on the mainland bringing them there, there was a lot of heavy alcohol use and drugs along with a bunch of unhealthy relationship dynamics

Everyone kind of just dealt with eachother in a really weird and unhealthy way by denying everything was wrong and people were quick to scapegoat individuals and demonized/ostracize them

I felt like it was village life the way my mother described it.
