I'm enjoying this. I can see how it fits /out activities. That nordic feeling..serious atmosphere, but not depressive or angry, more like a realistic outlook on life in general. Wich seems to be useful in /out activities.

I agree. Haven't heard anything I could compare to his music.

There is this composer on Youtube, the name is Adrian von Ziegler. He has many different styles, but in most songs manages to capture that ancient nordic feeling. I always want to go to the woods when I listen to his music.

Yeah, I found that guy when I typed "ambient" or "celtic" music into youtube to listen to while studying/writing for college last semester. Good stuff.

It's more /diy/ than /out/ but I have been listening to a lot of Nordic folk music (mainly Wardruna) while doing woodcarving and makes me think of dark, mystical woods and cold, solitary mountaintops.

Absolutely. I'm norwegian and grew up liking metal but didn't "get" black metal until I read someone explain it more or less like a soundtrack to walking around in the woods at night during winter, preferably in Norway. I understood exactly what he ment, and started liking black metal from that moment on.

On the complete oposite side of the spectrum; Biosphere is also great /out/ music. The guy is a serious (arctic) outdoorsman himself.

I would also recommend Hammock, This Will Destroy You, Caspian, and Explosions in the Sky. I love my instrumentals / atmospheric bands.
