>>399226I've been across the Northern United States several times. My best friend has as well, and has also spent about three consecutive months bouncing around yurup.
We both still agree we've never seen anything as calm and serene as the baby Pennsylvania mountains. The Susquehanna river valley, along with its tributaries and their respective valley regions are fantastic.
South Dakota comes in a close second for me.
However, we may be biased, as we both were spawned and matured there.
It's great for innawoodsing. There's plenty of State and Federal land with fairly lax laws regarding camping and such. Basically, stop in at a ranger's office and say "Hey, I want to camp in Bald Eagle State Park for a week." And you pay like $5 and go.
Or, just go camping anyway, and no one will ever find you. It's really no big deal. Good hunting, and plenty of Amish to lol at.
Central PA, here, by the way. So that's not technically "rust belt" territory.
