I need a GPS that I can use to follow back country trails on my dual sport motorcycle.

What would you guys recommend that is going to have more then just highway maps on it?

My only experience is with hand held GPS and the one I have sucks. It only works on major roads and highways

There's the receiver itself, then there's maps you put on it. I'm guessing you don't have any additional maps installed, and the receiver's running off basemap. Yeah, basemap blows ass.

I ride with a 76Cx. Color, and has the microSD card for additional maps. Been through a lot of GPS's and this one works real well for me. I'm not a fan of the newer (62/78) receivers... too much extra shit and worthless 'features', and greatly overcomplicated basic GPS functions.

CityNavigator's the mapset I almost always have loaded, has a fuckton of trails and the entire mapset is routable. It's the same map information that's on car GPS's.
Topo gets loaded when I'm on the snowmobile.

Depends. Some of the eTrex models have some internal memory, and yes, you can load maps into there. Internal memory is usually very limiting. It's worth upgrading to a GPS with color and SD/µSD capability.
