bitch it might be because where you forage all the spores blow into that ash tree line over there and then that area is hot with mushrooms
of course there are mushrooms that only grow on certain tree species, environments or what have you
i recommend just straight wondering the forest ( of course have some knowledge of the area and possible local species that may be around) and then write down on a map every time you find a pocket of a certain kind of mushrooms that your are hunting and just return to that area every once in a while to pick more, and also rule number one is to never pick every single mushroom, i like to leave 10-20% of the mushrooms that i find so i can come back later and it will be replenished
