You want real savagery, go hunt hogs with dogs and spears. Better yet, just leave the dogs at home and knife one.
A modern compound (and moreso a crossbow) is more akin to a fucking catapault in comparison to a Recurve or trad bow. The ft-lbs and FPS that a compound throws is near double even what a heavy (60 lb) Recurve is putting out. You want to get real nasty, screw on the heaviest broadhead you can find and load the arrow up with inserts.
The fucking thing will cut a 3+ inch wide wound channel straight through just about anything.

But go figure hogs are an invasive species, so no one literally gives two fucks about them. Most people don't even eat them or go for trophies, they just kill them and let the buzzards have the carcass.
