Although I don't use para-cord so much as just, you know: rope.
Although, if I backpack somewhere I don't need a bear canister? I do bring rope for hanging. I wouldn't take an axe on a trip where I cared about the bear cannister weight, though. I guess it's mostly a bulk issue, but that still nixes an axe. Axes are for car camping in national forests where it's ok to gather dead wood.
