>>422257>Do you need security? The country I am currently looking at is pretty dangerous.(The Congo). So some security is necessary, due to the prevalence of armed groups, but I am going to avoid these areas where they are most prevalent. If you are seriously interested, it may be nice if you could learn some heavy vehicle operating skills, in order to successfully manage a speedy chopping of large sections of jungle.
I'm looking at a revenue of approximately $10,000 per hectare at least. Looking to clear at least 1000 hectares, probably much more. Then replant it all with eucalyptus for future use, using the proceeds gained from the initial clear cutting.
The eucalyptus will be harvested after roughly 5 years. Eucalyptus grows very quickly, and can become very profitable if done correctly. The Congo has a very similar climate to that of Brazil, a very large grower of eucalyptus, which have also bred more rapid growing varieties. Apparently the going price per tree is between $6 to $7 each, with approximately 2990 trees being planted per hectare. Thus, producing about $19,435 per hectare, per 5 years. Or an annual income of $3887, comparable with most agricultural crops, but with considerably lower input costs. Another advantage of the eucalyptus tree is that it'll grow back when cut from the stump, meaning after the initial chopping, planting will not have to be redone, although it will require pruning to ensure decent growth.
I am currently contacting Ponsse, John Deere, Komatsu, and CAT on the possibility of purchasing various logging equipment. Although some of the larger trees may have to be cut with a chainsaw. But this can be done. As long as the majority is harvested. From my experience in jungles, the vast majority should be harvest-able with a harvesting head.
The vehicles I am currently looking at acquiring are several harvesters, with tracks, to deal with the wet weather in the jungle. As well as some forwarders.
