>>420049>but winter is just wrapping up cosy in front of a camp fire while the sun goes down at like 4pm.This all depends on one's point of reference, since, for example, winter in Missouri does not mean the same thing as winter in Utah, and I've done some really enjoyable winter camping in the Ozarks where there was no snow on the ground, it stayed above 20*F at night, and it was sunny in the daytime (if you don't winter camp much yourself, this is perfect weather), but the biggest obstacle to winter camping is really just the boredom.
When the sun goes down a 4:00 and it's dark by 5:00, that means you've got 4-5 hours to kill in the dark before you're tired enough to even think about falling asleep. If you've got a warm enough sleeping bag and pad, you'll be fine while sleeping (but if you don't, then God have mercy on your soul). But if you don't have a way to entertain yourself, then you can really go bonkers.
