Hey, /k/ here. Thinking about an /out/ setup for emergency preparedness purposes in case bugging in isn't an option. my question is blade-related. I know there's a sharps general on here but I know the hatchet/batoning debate goes on and on here so perhaps we can keep it to this thread.
I'm thinking of going with a hatchet/knife setup instead of just a big knife for batoning and chopping. What about estwing hatchets? I know they're great tools for the campsite but I often read that a survival hatchet should have a wooden handle so it can be replaced if it breaks. But has anyone managed to break one of these fuckers? are there better options for a bushcrafting chopper?
