>>428356Here is a tip. If you are able to scrounge up enough iron or steel to actually melt down, you can use a simple limb cudgel to shape the metal into another tool. The anvil can be a rock. While these tools won't be efficient, they will be effective enough to allow you to make a hammer and a spike. With those, you can make more complicated tools like tongs and blades.
To make a furnace hot enough to melt iron you'll need to make charcoal and a bellows, which are pretty easy to make, just google them. For the metal you can either source existing scrap metal (the best) or source ore which you'll need to smelt (bog iron, google how).
If you have the practice and the knowledge, you can get up to general electrical level of technology fairly quickly (within a year under optimal circumstances.)
