have any of you ever heard of Do Castaway? They're a Spanish company that basically sends to a deserted island of your choosing and you survive there for a couple of days or weeks if you can afford it. Did something similar to this in Scotland a few years back with my family, obviously we brought our own food and stuff, and we were staying in a house, but from the looks of it that's all this company does too. Was fun as fuck, it was just us on this hebridean island for a week, and halfway through the generator packed in and the weather became awful, so the guy who sorts it all out couldn't come and fix it, and then my dad's mobile ran out of charge so we couldn't even have phoned the coastguard or air ambulance or whatever. We just ate sandwiches and played boardgames for the remaining days though, was comfy as fuck. One of the best holidays of my childhood.

In some cases it says they helicopter you in, in others it's flights and boats all included in the price. You get a guide too, and all food etc etc. If you don't want the guide there, they'll stay nearby (ish) in case of emergency, and you get a satalite phone or something to contact 'em. That's where the money goes.

Obviously if you don't want any of this stuff just go find an island an stay on it for nothing.

It does sound pretty cool, though from my perspective, more so because there ain't anybody else around then the "survival" aspect, which can presumably be as primitive or advanced as you want.

Personally, I'd take all kinda gear with me as I'd want to be as comfortable as possible, seeing as I'm dropping $150 a day on the vacation.

whats the fun if there isnt a bit of uncertainty? you could pretty much survive without food or water for a short stint, and only need water for a week or so stay. if theres all these safety nets besides that whats even the point? youre pretty much just paying to be hungry on the beach
