Hey, /out/, I'm looking to attract and befriend a raven. Do any of you have any experience with them or making friends with wild animals in general?

Try leaving some meat scraps on a platform high in the air. You might get some turkey vultures but they're pretty cool too

well there are many things that can represent intelligence

but Corvids can problem solve well(although birds from other genera can solve many of the same problems as Corvids)

Do you want a Raven specifically? Or would a Crow work as well?
Both birds enjoy corn and meat.
If you put food out when they are present and can see you they will start to recognize you.
Respect their space.
Talk to them from afar when you set out food, this way they are more comfortable while you're around.

Thanks guys! I covered a scrap rectangle of corrugated steel in aluminum foil to make it more reflective so maybe it will catch their eye. I'll put this, some dead mice, and some corn around it on the top of a fountain in my yard. Hopefully this works.

Raven is the only animal I've encountered in the wild I can classify as strange. Saw one walk completely across the road in front of a vehicle. Love to watch them dive and tumble in the air though. Exactly what I'd do if I were a bird.

for thousands of years people have captured wild raptors and trained them to come back to the hand after letting them fly free

Maybe it helps if you always wear a specific piece of clothing, for example a blue cap. It might make it easier for them to remember you at first.

It is possible, my father told me stories about someone living in our village. After work, when he went into town, he often had his crow friend sitting on his shoulder. Somehow this guy managed to be friends with a wild crow.
