What are a good pair of gloves to buy? I've never owned gloves.

Picture somewhat related, I will be wearing them with Flecktarn camo.

Look at mechanicx or outdoor research for "tactical" gloves. they have a pretty decent general utility also.
Cool/cold weather, again OR makes some good ones, ansel hawkeye and Arc'Teryx
Get the bulk packs for work gloves

I personally use Camelbak's for shooting (not too happy with them), Arc'teryx tacticians for late fall/early winter, and Ansel Hawkeye ICW's for fuck its cold. I have a pair of OR Mutant mitts, but it rarely gets that cold to need them.

Depends on what you want them for? warmth? protection? just and extra layer? i like those cheap nitril work gloves. fits skin tight. superb dexterity. increases grip. gives a tiny bit of warmth but also keeps your hadns from getting rubbed in all sorts of nasty

camelback made the absolute best tactical gloves ever about 5 or 6 years ago. but yea after that batch they dropped significantly in quality.

Not op but I'm looking for a very warm pair of mittens under $100. I have my eye on a couple that look good for around 50 but its neigh impossible to tell if they will be adequate from trying them on in the store. I have poor circulation and they would have to keep me warm down to around 0 degrees F in low activity.

These are warm, have robust leather for deathgrip and are cheap. You get them used or new. They are german surplus. Get a large size. Get a thin pair of merino wool liners under them. If you go polar, get those as well:

I just came back from snowboarding with the German Army Flecktarn winter mittens. I'm very happy with them. It really depends on what you're doing with them. Mountaineering? Frozen waterfall climbing? Skiing? Ski tours? Just hiking in the woods? Hunting?

If you're trying to stay warm I would avoid military surplus gloves. I've never had a pair that were worth a damn.

My neighbor gave me some "thinsulate 400g" gloves for christmas last year and they're really warm.

Then you are doing it wrong, thinsulate is polyester fleece. It tears and is not robust at all.

Buy merino liners and a pair of the german surplus mittens or gloves and you will be fine for down to -20°C.

But seriously >>433076, I'd recommend some Hawkeye ICW (Intermediate Cold Weather) gloves since they're surplus as well. They take a bit to break in and the liner slips a bit inside, but they'll take a beating in the outdoors and keep your fingertips warm the whole time.
