Hey, /out/, is there a good alternative to Lifestraw?
I like the concept of just being able to drink straight from the water, without boiling or using tabs or some shit, but there's way too many negative reviews on Amazons for me to pop on it just now.

Whaddaya think?

and recommendation beside lifestraw?
if you ask me
i will pick the sawyer filter
light pack,reusable,even though you can pick the "deluxe " model
but all you need is the filter itself
bladder bag and everything else can be bought at walmart maybe a little bit cheaper

but there is always a problem that filter are not shockproof
so try not to damage them

I have the katadyn hiker pro and I absolutely love it.

Comes with long enough tubes and adaptors so you can fill all your water bottles and camelbak/water bladders.

It's around $90 bucks however, it goes above and beyond what I need it for.

Seriously considering buying the lifestraw or the Sawyer filter due to the size.

Sawyer Mini Water Filter - been posted here a million times, so I don't know how you could have missed it. Better than the lifestraw in every way.

lifestraw will clogged up after about 50 gallon or something
but even if the swayer got clogged up then all you need it to flush it with water

The sawyers and any suck-filter device are almost pointless given they don't filter viruses.

I have a lifestraw and I've never had any problems with it. Inexpensive and performs as needed, I've drank plenty of water out of creeks/streams using my lifestraw and haven't shit my insides out yet so I fail to see the problem

After using the sawyer to filter water, leave in clear plastic jug for 1-2hrs. Sunlight will UV fry the remaining viral load.

Use a cheap bandana to clear out mud and sediments from water beforehand.

The shock and cold factor affects EVERY OTHER WATER TREATMENT.

aka chlorine tabs(shock breaks up pills/cold reduces speed of reactions)
aka boiling(shock spills/puts out heat/cold slows reaction/loss of water from steaming)
aka expensive filters(shock breaks/disconnects internals/cold cracks plastic/membranes/reduces effectiveness)

Difference is that both the lifestraw and sawyer can be kept on your WARM body and shouldn't suffer HAMMER blows.

Treat your shit well, put breakables in middle of your sleeping bags, use liners and water proofers/bags, your fine.
