Do any /out/casts bring DSLRs innawoods?

I got one over black friday and I enjoy using it. I'm really tempted to take it on some multi day trips or hikes and scrambles, but I'm afraid I'll bump it on a rock or get it wet.

Anyone take a camera? How do you do it?

Yeah I take mine, with a dry bag to put it in if it starts to rain. For even better protection you could keep it in a watertight hardcase (by Pelican, Otterbox et al) but then you'd have to carry the case too.

Not all the time, but yes.
Almost always have a smaller "bridge camera" along though; doesn't need as many accessories, and ... well, I bought it for $60 on ebay. Not gonna be too heartbroken if I do crash and destroy it.

Got a small padded case for it, just big enoguh for the camera and some little items (remote, spare battery, filter or two).

They're tougher than you'd think. Obviously don't want to drop it, but a little bit of water isn't going to destroy it.
The lenses are more delicate than the body itself is. If you get a sealed lens ($$$, but much more durable) they're far more rugged than a zoom lens that "breathes" as you zoom in/out. Less chance of compressing/shocking the mechanics in a sealed lens.

My cameras and lenses are supposedly water resistant, but I always take AquaTech rain covers like pic related. ThinkTank also make good ones I've heard.

I also always keep the lens hoods on the lenses, as it's usually the front of the lens that takes knocks against brush and trees, the hood softens the impact a bit. A UV filter will of course save your front lens element from scratches.

If I'm not going out with the express intention of taking photos, then I'll just take a bridge camera like another anon suggested, and plastic bag to keep it in.
