What are some /out/ related jobs?

I hate my job, and I want to get out (hehe).

I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, but I'm currently a middle school teacher. I live in TX, so I would assume we have plenty of space for outdoorsy jobs.

My advice: Don't make something you love your job. You'll just hate it.

I looked around, and it seems like park ranger stuff is pretty locked down.

I just want to be outside. I'm dying from being stuck inside all day.

Have you considered a job in agriculture? If you have any skills with welding, engines, and stuff like that you could easily become a contractor for agricultural work. You could also try and get a job with your local irrigation district. Usually, you just have to do the whole apprenticeship thing for a few years before they let you be a lineman or anything complicated, but you won't be cooped up all day!

I have. Several times. And I've hated being cooped up with every single position. The one I liked best was as an engineer on drilling rigs, but the hours/lack of safety got rough.
