Ex Navy guy here - driven/ridden in the DPV's. Fun like any other buggy, but they do beat the shit out of you, especially if driven hard. We dont usually try to wear them out unless it is haul ass time. Actually, I heard a rumor from some friends that the Navy dropped there DPV's (originally started and used by team 5) or that SOCOM took them away. I dont know though I have been /out/ since the early 2000's. Oh, and they broke allot.

This thread interests the balls out of me. Had to quit a well payed job to go to collage for some qualifications in forestry. Basically sold a 4x4 and driving a 1L disposable car. Welded some tubular steel to the underside to take the hits and looking into raising the suspension but thinking about just getting a buggy or something on the road. Live somewhere that fucks drivers inside out so the engine size does make a difference moving from having lots of money to no money.

DPVs are just like any other sandrail but with more stuff strapped to them. Also they're useless in anything but flat terrain, and you can mount machine guns to any vehicle with some stuff from the hardware store. The ideal /out/ vehicle is more versatile.

Downsides: 6MPG and you don't have the Guard's 3rd Logistics Army supporting you. Replacement parts would probably be a issue.

Aren't vehicles like these so heavy their range is limited to like 25-50 miles from the fuel trucks when used in actual combat?

poorfag, pls. if you are going to take to the air, do it in a titanium wrapped death machine.

most military vehicles have a max range of around 400-500km, but thats with minimum equipment and crew and max fuel load. for logistics reasons most are used in much shorter combat radius's than that.
