I think I know the guy, he does work in Switzerland from time to time, saw some if his stuff. I really like to see it and think it is a beautiful art. However I tried to do it myself and nearly despaired. I guess I live this to him and other special people. Also I don't get the esoteric stuff he is talking.

3rd one reporting in, though I just knock over those little rock towers because they take away from my trail immersion experience (unless they are used to mark an off trail or confusing route of course). My friend and I were camping up on Wire Mesa near Zion National Park. One day we wanted to see how tall of a Cairn we could build. This goofy motherfucker is 6 feet tall, so I guess the cairn pictured was about 8 feet or so.

I like it fine in already disturbed areas if it's reversible (I once found a bunch of rusty old iron pipes dumped at the bottom of a suburban waterfall, too heavy to pack out so I stuck them in among the rocks so the water would flow out of them, didnt have a camera that day unfortunately). Not so much in wilderness.

Or I suppose if it's precolumbian it's OK.
