This. It's the solution to virtually every kind of stain. Not from /out/ experience so much as being married to a woman who owns a cleaning service. A little apple cider vinegar and dish soap solves anything, if you come back to it an hour later. The dish soap is to make it stick. Keep it warmish, spray it on, leave it, and come back and scrub.

By the way? If you ever burn the bottom of a pot you actually use in your kitchen 'cuz you took it camping and boiled it over a fire? The solution to getting the charred metal taste out of it, also, is apple cider vinegar.

I am not clear on the answer to this. Google tells me, basically, "because it smells better." I have no factual evidence with-which to back up the following claim, but I find that it works better, on things and stuff. That is based on absolutely nothing. But the price-difference is also only like forty cents. So take the advice or leave it, for all the pennies that it's gonna cost you.

I just had to ask, because from a chemical perspective it doesn't make much sense to me. It seemed more like an "old wives' tale" passed down, and I do expect it is just because the residual smell is better. I suppose it is a good idea to pick up some cider vinegar for cleaning of clothes and such... not sure a white vinegar scent would last through a laundry cycle, but hey, it's cheap like you said.

Some times I don't give a shit whether something works better or just feels like it does. In fact? I'd prefer not to know the difference, if it isn't in favor of the thing I use.

I'll be honest, your perspective alarms me. It is by knowing the true properties and mechanics of things in this world that we can mold it to what we desire. Wouldn't you be glad if you knew that a cheap chemical like (apple cider) vinegar worked just as well for cleaning things as a 10x more expensive specialty mix, because you knew its method of action?
