This proposal would restrict young hunters under the age of 9 to only hunting small game, while mentored youth ages 9–12 would remain licensed to harvest small and big game.

You understand that you SHOULD flip out at any change, right? Because our enemies here are all about gradual changes over time.

That is why they go after "assault rifles" instead of the weapons that, you know, are actually involved in a substantial amount of deaths.
The assault rifles are perceived as the softest target and easiest achievement.

Ask some libfags, just ask them. They want all of our guns and will not stop trying until they get them.

This is probably true but it's still 1 tag = 1 deer and in some of the WMU's they have tighter antler restrictions than adults.

Most of the hunters that I've hunted with became kind of apathetic towards their own hunts when they started mentoring. They've all said it's more fun seeing their kids get hyped about a hunt than it is for them to take their 9000th deer.

In my experience mentoring, early teens is too late to counteract xbox-induced-ADD but 9 is probably not a bad cutoff for rifle season. As long as you can still take your kids on the hunt to teach them woodsmanship and to the range to teach marksmanship.

Just ask them. Ask these folks that push for restrictions what they'd like ideally.

If you do not maintain a culture of resistance and instead appease them then you are getting dangerously close to losing that which you do want to keep.

I'm assuming you're American, you get that you're just coming off a whole lot of bans, right? And you still have some bs ones like restrictions on suppressors and things like that.
You had more bans than this not too long ago. So how could it be unbelievable to you that you could have those bans again?
If you look at other first world countries they are heavily disarmed and in many cases lost things over time.

If you want some more easily understood and irrational bans take a look at non-firearms bans.

That's not my point. My point is those are illegal in a great many places. Is it logical for those things to be illegal, or did they get banned because ignorant people got scared of them after seeing a movie and pushed for a ban that no one opposed?

The British are almost knife's edge away of not even being allowed to own knives with pointy ends, for Christ's sake.
The only thing stopping it is that normal people all use knives. It's tricky to convince them all, but they'll work on it.

You can't own a semi-automatic rifle in Australia. Do you understand that they banned shit hunters would use in sensible countries?
The other thing is it's not always about banning things outright. They'll make it so expensive and complicated to own the things that law-abiding citizens won't bother with them.
Criminals, however, do not have to pay registration fees or get licenses.

eg. The website OkCupid has a question that asks if you would date someone that owns a gun. Check out how many people on that website say they would not. And it doesn't specify what kind of person or what kind of gun. It could a be a cop owning a musket!

I can walk into a shop and buy a machete, axe, as long as i am over 18. I owned my first axe when i was 13 years old and my first knife at 8. The city and urban areas in the UK are different. I shot my first shotgun at 11 years old, everyone here owns a shotgun or rifle.
