>>455841>>455979Every time I get a "prepper" type fear I think about books like "on the beach" ; where Australia is almost the last country alive [NZ?] after global-thermo-nuclear-war :
And I think : we [Australia] may be the best able to save ourselves : we are rather isolated [and that's good] , And we have all the means of production : Diesel , Coal , Croplands , Minerals , Ore , Sun , Rain - and Distance.
If ALL other continents and islands disappeared from Earth tomorrow we would prevail and WELL.
Now : if hungry marauders arrive on our shore then they generally die : 80% of the Coastline has no drinking/crop water, much of the land CAN'T grow crops.
If you want to take us : I would suggest that your army would have to be about 1million-strong : AND you would have to be able wage that war for perhaps Eight years [though our main weakness in that sense is that we are very coastal : most food production is within about 300km of the coast due to rainfall and soil]
But I still feel that this prize is not worth anyones effort to take.
I read about your little countries with close neighbours , little diversity and limited resources and I feel safer here.
