This isn't the 1930's anymore, and hopefully you don't live in a third world shit hole or second world shit hole like Europe or Ausfailia.
With the exception of a flood, hurricane or earthquake, which are extremely rare and you can't truly prepare for in any real economical feasible way, there's nothing to prepare for. Major power outages in the US very rarely last more than a few days to a week. The worst case scenario is a riot in your city and you want to get the fuck out before the niggers start looting.
All you need is a backpack or duffel bag with a few changes of clothing, a fully charged power bank for your phone, and emergency cash. You just want something that you can toss in your car and drive to a hotel 50 or so miles away.
Shit like MREs, fishing kits, and firestarters are just flat out fucking retarded. People who do this are just role playing gear fags, most of which don't even go outside.
