Has anyone used the gopro before? I got the hero4 silver and I absolutely love it! It's now my go-to camera for anything including SCUBA diving, fishing trips, and any outdoor adventures too.

The other day, I went to the Everglades to an old lake I like to go to, and I just left the camera in the shallows twice to see what I can find, and when I uploaded them, I saw so much more than what I ever thought I would see!

Out of my short experience, it is an absolute wonderful camera. But what are your thoughts on the gopro /out/?

What sort of mounting configuration can you do with it and you can modify them or make your own. I'd love to be able to mount this thing to my recurve bow or like a fishing rod or somewhere on my body to record for a different perspective

Anyone have experience with this?

I recently purchased the SJCAM M10, the guts of it is the SJCAM 4000 crammed into a smaller square to compete against polaroid cube.
I got the one with wifi for a few dollars more, so far I am digging it.

The 1080p quality is top notch... you can see a short video I made with it - default settings no adjustments other than anti-shake.

Unfortunately the sound quality from this device is very poor, there is a mod to attach an external mic but I dont want to do this.

Note that youtube seriously compresses videos down.. so it doesnt look so great as the original film. It also takes 12MB photos.

Cost $115... with a waterproof case and mounts. I went ahead and purchased a chest mount for a future ski trip.

I used to have three Hero 2's...which were great for land/air, but were useless underwater. I sold those and have one 3+ Black, which is far superior in image quality and adaptability. I take it everywhere; surfing, scuba, snowboarding, skateboarding...you get the point. Also I dont think the hero 4 is worth upgrading to at this point.

Contour on my helmet. Prefer it over the Gopro due to form factor. Contour's a much lower profile.

Nice because it lets me get photos/videos I can't get with any of my other cameras. >Pic extremely related.
Downside ... shoot a day's worth of video, and you get to relive that day through video.... *all* of it. Ain't nobody got time fo dat.
I really like it for racing - I can go back and see where I fucked up, maybe see there's a different/better line I should have taken ... things to look out for when I'm on the track again. And of course, the crashes.

I might set it up on a gorillapod and do some timelapses driving in the truck this weekend.

Whats that? like a monopod?
I like my sjcam M10 because its very small too.. you can do cyclical recordings of 3min - 10min ( video cut into clips).. Id like to rig it to skipole if I can.. I hope that works.

Super-kickass little flexy tripod. Use it like a regular tripod, hook it around a branch/fence, hang it from a tree.

Small/light, easy to pack, standard 1/4-20 thread, turns just about anything into a tripod.

At 1 photo/second, it doesn't do too bad, even in lower-light situations. Get moving at moto speed it's pretty much worthless at night.

Just have to hold still for 5-10 seconds, let it get a couple of shots, and pick the best one.

I do loves me some night riding.

Wiped out on the snocross track last year. Hit hard enough to reset the camera, this was the last frame from the video clip. Woke up to the EMT's asking me where I was and my race number...

I had a Hero 3 White for a while. It was a good camera. Just you have to buy a skeleton housing if u want to use a external mic and a play and charge cable. I ended up returning it. Im waiting for a price drop. I'll link you my video of me running it at 1080p at 30 fps. Unless you're doing something extreme and need a pov cam I think GoPros are shit. You're much better off with a full featured camera like the Sony RX100.
