OP, I understand the appeal of horses. I think the whole cowboy with a tent pack on your horse out on the plains thing is cool.
Unfortunately I had to take care of 16 horses which weren't even mine when I was a kid. I took care of them for 8 years 300 days out of the year. I cleaned them, put away their food, cleaned their stalls, and did all the heavy lifting of any kind. I never rode them, and when I did get to ride them I would be mocked endlessly because I was the stable boy.
I can't stand horses.
