I used to do a lot of ice fishing. Perch and Pike mostly. When Lake Perch are hitting it can be fun with all the action.
I live in the Mid-Atlantic region these days. No more ice fishing for me.

Almost got skunked last weekend on Lake Superior. Bobbing for Lake Trout in 100+ feet of water. But for whatever reason, it seemed like wherever I was, the lake trout were not. I did manage a good haul of whitefish though, which were tasty as fuck. I'm hoping to get out and get on some water closer to home for some pike, but they've been scarce all winter. I've had better luck for Perch and Crappie

My father was a construction worker and was frequently out of work during the winter. Agree. Lake Trout and Perch are big on the lakes near me. LL Salmon and Crappie as well depending on the lake. Pike are fun but not great for eating and keeping the monsters instead of CPR is frowned upon.
