Hello /out/, how've you been? It's me, that dumbass who moved to North Dakota in the middle of winter in his van. I'm not dead yet!
Coldest temperature I've done so far is -21F air temperature, minus whatever wind chill does to a van. I don't run heat at night, I just climb inside my sleeping bags (one rated down to 30F inside one rated down to -10F) with a couple blankets and sleep warmly through the night. Waking up sucks hardcore, but at least the cold wakes me up quickly and, fortunately, this has been a very mild winter.
I was van camping while working all of January (old boss threatened my job if I got caught sleeping in my van, new boss just strongly discouraged it), but now I've got a couple weeks before the next job so I'm just chilling in Portland, Oregon. The Pacific Northwest sounded like a beautiful place to go /out/, so here I am.
