>>460576Kind of stupid advice. If you're going on a short trip and don't need something that's extremely durable, a cheap Field & Stream pack is fine. I bough a 35L model from a Dick's store that I used for five months while traveling around the world. It stood up to heavy rain in Iceland, wild camping in Eastern Europe, getting used as a stool in the Himalayas, and New Delhi monsoons. It's still in good enough shape that I'd feel comfortable taking it on another extended excursion.
On the last round-the-world trip I took for four months in 2013, I used a standard Jansport school backpack that I'd bought to lug my 17.3" backpack to university classes. That shit has tear gas stains on, went to Iraq, and probably got rolled in poop in India, and I still use it to carry my computer and textbooks around on a daily basis.
