>>461213never once had waxies die on me
as long as you keep them warm out of water they stay alive
i just throw them inside my jacket
they are soft and white white tends to stand out
i have a feeling something about the smell of their insides attract fish
i also do have some plastics with me so if i get into a nice school i can swap rods and drop down plastics so i dont have to keep re baiting
spent a full day fishing with me and 2 guys fishing waxies and 2 other guys only fishing maki plastics
while they did well we outfished them by almost doubble ( per person)
on their flashers ( they had all the high tech expensive shit)
their fish would follow the plastics all over but wouldnt bite all the time
with waxies we could just let the rod sit and fish would take it ( why i assume smell and taste has a factor to do with it )
all of us were fishing within 20 ft of eachother and rotating holes so everyone was fishing the same shit
also we ended up pulling more perch and quite a few bass ( 2-3 under 1 lb one 3 pounder and one lost at the hole that was estimated to be 5 )
they got far less perch but more crappie overall and no bass
different strokes for different folks i guess
all the bites this year have been super light and i have had to not have the bait moving at all to get them to bite
it all depends on the fish and area and what each person prefers
waxies are also dirt fucking cheap
but you cant get them from petco or whatever have to order them in bulk to get ones that arent dead
