Because they are supposed to just be looting and using whatever they find. The odd thing is that it's not very consistent, so you rarely see them finding new equipment and making adjustments to their loadout, as you probably would do every time you looted a place.

Why don't the use 2-way radios to communicate? geeeez they would have avoided so many problems if they did, its not like you couldn't charge them via a 12v car adapter or solar charger. Guess you can't expect much from tv.

I don't think this even just goes for WD. Thinking back to people using walkies in media: it's often bad guys.

Now you mention it actually I can't remember seeing 'em use them before the last episode. I suppose there was whatshisface black guy on the end of that radio with can't-remember-his-name main guy at the start until the batteries ran out but yeah.

Honestly I just assume the forgot radios for stealth reasons. Don't want to accidentally give a friend's hiding spot away when a hoard of zombies are meandering by.

Alice isn't a bad accommodation to any system for extra mags and gear if you can hump it. Web gear is general purpose, I personally have a an ALICE system I can ditch if need be over my BALCS carrier for a SHTF situation.
