>>462670Depends on your needs. If you're not much of a cook a simple military quart canteen cup will be enough for your soup, rice, pasta. The US ones are a bit thin, i'd recommend the French canteen+quart cup combo if you can find it. Otherwise, the US one will do fine.
If you're into more elaborate meals, you'll need two containers, one of which must be somewhat large. The swedish mess kit is really good, but heavy and cumbersome, however you can cook pretty much whatever you want in it.
If you're not planning on cooking in it, (aka, just for eating ), then the US mess kit (frying pan + double compartment cover) will be sufficient.
