So, what are your bad habits when heading out?
I tend to overpack a lot when heading for hikes, and usually pick a bad place when setting up my tent.

Admittedly, I do haul a heap of crap with me on my adventures but that's because I like the idea of being able to make camp for a couple weeks If I find a nice spot.

I've got a bad habit of almost dying in the wilderness, but I've pretty much accepted that I'll fall down a mountainside or abandoned mine someday

take to much gear gear cause i love my gear and i know i could get away with 1/3rd of actual tools i take but it's alot of fun, and it helps me get /fit/ anyways

lol, this and taking too small amount of gear, usually hiking all day without backpack, happen to me more then once to emergency hydrate myself with water boiled in beer can found in woods or dig out burdock root and chew it raw because of hunger
my real problem is I can't camp alone, when my work is done I sit by the fire and get feel being lonely
taking dog or harmonica with me isn't helping, and my dog hate staying overnight

I hate this shit. I like ATLEAST 3 people with me camping, just because I find that is usually how general social activities work out best, 3 or more people. 2 people who aren't really good friends can be awkward, it can work out really well, but it can also end up with alot of quiet time.

That's why I always take a book along for solo hikes... Just something fun and entertaining, nothing too deep, but it really helps passing the hours between making camp and sack time.

I'd love to have hours between making camp and nightfall. I always manage to still be cooking food when it gets dark.
Anyways if I had more free time more often and wouldn't hike for much too long, I'd practice bushcraft skills in camp in a safe setting where you don't need them. Whittling spoons, making fire, building shelter with what's available, stuff like that.
I can read at home.
