so i keep running into the same problem.
I have an old REI co-op bag that i stole from my uncle and my ass is cold.
I use a 55L pack. any recommendations for a warm bag that wont take up too much room?
modular russian nesting sacks?

i dont stay /out/ in the winter so like a 20-30F degree bag would be fine.

If money is an issue just by a liner or overbag, they are relatively cheap and warm. I am also in the Pacific Northwest and find that for extended stays in the /out a down bag can collect moisture and leave me really cold by the end of the trip. I recently purchased a Mountain Hardware Lamina 32 and I am really liking the synthetic fill. I slept wet one night after a tarp tore when it was raining and I was away from camp, the bag was soaked and i was still fairly warm. I would have been much colder in a down bag. Anyways just something to think about here on Coast. Good luck.

Straps always seemed a bit "single use pretty thing" to me, though maaaaybe you could throw a spark off a steel buckle. You could tie it with natural cordage if you'd like a more trad look. I'd just grab some shitty rope and throw on a slippery clove hitch or summat
