A mud dabber nest like that with the holes all open means the larva have eaten all the spiders the parent stuff in with their eggs and have changed into wasps and left long ago.

Yup. I broke two free wheels, so I upgraded to a cassette in Durham, NC. Haven't broken a single spoke since then, so I'm happy. Broken spokes were driving me broke.
