hi sc/out/s, i want to go on a trip on the isle of sky in may, any suggestion?

i already did an 80km trip ina forest in my land, the trail to santiago the compostela (800km) and the westwweg (black forest) in germany, all alone. can i have some suggestions? patrick, are you on /out/ today?

Not been to Skye, sorry. But I do have a related question:

What conditions to I hve to expect there around this time of the year? Just genrally wet-cold-windy? Is there snow & ice up in the mountains, or is it too close to the coast for that?
Any info/experience welcome, thx!

OP here, no idea, that's why i,m going in may. it should be a safe bet. i hope. but right now in london is spring so maybe it will be very good in a couple of months. i plan to go to cotswold to buy a pair of Meindl Toronto gtx, as my last boots are totally wasted and a cheap single tent as i think i will sleep most of the time outdor and occasionally in some b&b on the road just for recharge batteries

Hey, could i ask where about you are based in the UK, reading the other thread about hiking the AT has somewhat inspired me to get out and start hiking, but looking for some good 4-7 day hikes close to me (East Kent, Canterbury Area) but im able to travel , plus how was the Black Forest?

westweg was cool, check availability of b&b before starting or it will be an adventure. (i didn't)

Take the ferry from Mallaig as your route of entry for the island, the scenery is stunning. A friend took it and told me of it. Might go myself.

yeah, the ferry from mallaig is definitely my first option. i plan to do the route on the other way through (you are supposed to start from the top) also, i would like to visit something like the fairy pools (pic related) but they are out of the trail, i suppose it's worth it.

i hope that anon manage to do the /out/badge in time so i can stick one on the back of my bag and took some picture for an AMA thread

start from Glasgow, end up in Fort William, take a steam train to mallaig (yes, a fucking steam one, for real) and then a ferry to armdale
