I've had wild animals up and die just from being caught by hand. Not even roughly handled relatively, just chased and caught then they die.

Basically, if you are doing this without a proper reason (food/relocation) or proper method (killing/live trap), is does amount to animal abuse. Besides, if you are going to eat an animal, they are tastier when they don't see it coming. A stressed animal with physical and mental stress has a much different flavor that isn't good.
