Me, the Mrs. and our dog are going to be traveling down to the GSMNP area in May. I know most of the drive is going to be pretty boring but I wanted to throw out our general route and see if anyone had any suggestions of good stops along the way.
I understand dogs aren't allowed on most national park land, but I wanted to ask if anyone is familiar with nice hikes or general areas to explore around GSMNP, Daniel Boone, Hoosier, etc.
If the National Park is effectively out of the question for the dog, would it be worth it to spend most of our time around Pisgah, Cherokee or Chattahoochee?
