>>467339>>467354I can understand not wanting the animals to suffer and I'm not trying to make these guy's actions out to be 100% kosher, but...
Feral hogs aren't game. They ARE pests and here they are being exterminated. I know part of the concern is the lack of good initial shot placement but watching the video the shooters are making sure the hogs are dead, any that are still moving/scream they put more rounds into till they stop. No, its not the perfect instantly-dead-on-first-shot a hunter strives for, but the hogs are generally dead in less then 30sec. Given the number of hogs, how dangerous they are, and the shooters goals their actions are reasonable. How often do "hunters" miss their initial shot placement and have to make a quick follow up or track a wounded animal for hours, all the while the animal is slowly dying? While they could have edited it out, it looks like the shooters (exterminators?) aren't letting any wounded hogs get away.
It isn't sporting nor hunting, its extermination. I don't pretend to know the shooters reasons for clearing them out. It could be that he's just a blood thirsty psychopath. It could be that the hogs have caused tens of thousands of dollars of damage to this mans property, crops, or livestock/pets. It could simply be that this is this mans job.
Now, that said, its is a little unnerving how close they get to the animals. However they exterminators look like they have some sort of barrier (fallen timber usually) between them and the hogs or they are standing on something to keep out of goring range. Given the how dense the brush looks to be in some areas I suppose they have to get close to ensure the hogs can't all get away the second one is downed.
