>>479065>>479851Personally, I find it to be sufficient for most things. At its highest setting you can see a pretty fair distance with it, but it's definitely not the sunbeam caliber of most lightnerds go for lately.
The colored lights on it are very definitely intended for lighting a more immediate area. The red is to reduce glare, the blue is for signaling (or tracking blood, if fuddlore is to be believed). The outdoorsman's version has a green light (why?), and the mil/LE version has an IR light (which, let's be honest... almost nobody will find useful.).
55 lumens probably doesn't sound like a shit-ton, but it's also very well distributed light.
>I need something with a swivel head, can stand up straight, and can clip in my shirt pocket.Sounds like this is about what you need. It's about the same size as a pack of Virginia Slims. You can find it a little cheaper on amazon or ebay.
My personal recommendation: Go for the Military/LE model. Sure, you'll never use that IR light, but that version powers up to the lowest setting first and scales up (dat light discipline, yo). which helps conserve power and let you make better choices about exactly how much light you need for whatever given situation. The outdoorsman model starts at the brightest and scales downward instead. You'll never use that green light either, and the cost is identical.
